2017 SHUKC All Star Update

Circumstances with Easter this week created a unique situation this year.  I had a majority of the participants in the gym at the same time and it made for a fun event.  Only a couple of uniform issues but overall a fun night.  I will be announcing the KVL 3 point contestants after tonight’s practice.  A number of players shot last night.

I have known Jalen Taylor all his life and I don’t know if I have ever seen the personality shine like it did last night.  He was the show, jabbering with Demarco Smith who wasn’t going to back down one bit.  I was tracking some 3 point shooters on one side of the court and the next thing I know a pick up game got going.  All I can say is this is going to be a fun game!

I usually have a strong sense of who I think will win the boys game but I don’t this year.  Last year I expected the KVL to shoot well but not 30+ 3’s and 139 points.  The KCAL teams that have won this game have been incredibly strong as well.  The only problem the KVL team will need to solve is keeping Malik Cushon off the glass.  He could be a sleeper MVP. The young man is humble and appreciative to be playing in the game.  I feel he blossomed late in the season and very worthy of playing in this game.

April 13th at Basehor-Linwood.  Girls game will tip at 5:45.
