2017 SHUKC Scores (Week 3)

by David Brox, davidbrox@shukc.com

I am late but a busy weekend with my kids games and the Chiefs game today.

I threw out a prediction or what I referred to as a Brox guarantee during the offseason.  I said that Schlagle would reclaim the KCAL crown this year and Friday they went a long way in making that happen.  The Stallions are still a little sloppy on offense but were dominant against Atchison and got the win 30-0.  Hopefully you have seen the highlight of Ivan Webb’s performance but I am going to give more of a shout out to that defense that was swarming.  Taye Helms got nicked up early and it was like the defense were sharks smelling blood in the water.

Basehor-Linwood ran their defensive masterpiece to 3 games shutting out Turner 63-0.  Like I said on twitter Friday night.  I see you Bobcats and am impressed but the combined record of the 3 opponents is 1-8 and the 1 win is against the Washington Wildcats.  Even Independence this week is 1-2.  Great job but my standards for you are high and I expect this against these teams.  You can only play who is on the schedule and it is not their fault their opponents are down.  173-0 is an impressive number.

Bonner Springs was dominant against Piper Friday night winning 24-7.

Tonganoxie wins 61-6 over Bishop Ward.  Looks like I will be going to Tonganoxie again next week.

Mill Valley broke out with a 51-26 win over Blue Valley Southwest.  How about Brody Flaming of Mill Valley who logs his second straight 400+ passing yard performance?  How about 482 total yards 6 passing TD’s with 2 INT’s and rushing TD.  I would say this is going to have him as a strong player of the week nominee.  Logan Talley with 5 receptions for 194 yards and 3 TD’s is not a bad bet either.  He has 25 receptions and 420 yards and 5 TD’s.  WOW!

Hogan Prep all over Harmon 55-8.

Eudora all over Sumner Academy 42-6

Lansing lost to Shawnee Mission North 29-20

Maize South 58-0 over Washington

So here is the dilemma and I can’t get into it now.  Do you schedule Maize South or leave an open date?

Wyandotte was not able to schedule a game.  I won’t call it a bye because there really should be no such thing.  I know this is on a two year cycle so hopefully this will never happen again.
