For a second straight year the KCKCC Blue Devils will claim a Lansing Lion on their basketball squad. Word came out today that Joe Lendway has committed to play basketball at KCKCC joining former team mate Clay Young. Lendway who was steady as a rock for the undefeated Lions averaged 9.4 ppg and 4.5 rebounds for the state championship winning team.
If you just do the little things like catch the ball and make a layup, then your value will often get over looked. Lendway got over looked so much that I personally took him for granted. The young man shot 65% from the field mainly for getting solid position and finishing at the rim. This was not any more apparent than in Topeka where Lendway went 21 of 30 from the field for a mere 70% shooting.
He will now move on to the next level where he can take his good size and ability to develop a little bit more. With a foundation of good hands and finishing ability I have to think Coach Newton is excited to have this young man join the program.
Coach Briggs said, “Don’t sell short the ability to run the floor every time and make a lay-up.”
I could not agree more. Congrats to you Joe Lendway and we look forward to seeing you play for the hometown Blue Devils.
