Smooth Sailing for Lady Pirates

Last but certainly not least the Lady Piper Pirates were able to defeat Basehor-Linwood 64-31 and advance to the state tournament.  The Pirates unfortunately are a victim of their own success.  The final game result was highly expected by me at least.  The accomplishment of a successful season though should not be lost.  21-1 is greatness from my perspective.

Ryan Cobbins and Ali Vigil led this team and have raised the level of play in the KVL.  Ryan Cobbins scored 14 points in the second quarter Saturday and 29 points overall.  Along the same lines that I talked about Ishante Suttington at Schlagle these ladies have set a new standard for girls basketball in the city.

Coach Stout seems to be a SHUKC Vivian Jordan Coach of the year candidate every season and Piper faithful should be damn happy to have him.  I personally have a world of respect for him and my expectations have to keep rising along with it.  The 4A tournament in Salina will be incredibly tough.  The Pirates will face a 16-6 Abilene team in the first game Thursday 3:00 PM in Salina.  I wish the team the best of luck and congrats on the substate championship.
